Today was a sleepy day ... Nindiya Re is a song Ann showed me. It means Dear Sleep in Urdu, I think, and I am too sleepy to google it and check. I slept so deep that I did not even hear my Flipkart delivery arrived. What's Flipkart? It's the equivalent of amazon.com but better. Better because I don't have to pay to place the order and the goodies are hand-delivered to my door in less than three days. Thank god they don't have home stuff, or I will go broke.

My first walk alone ...

To mark the occasion of my first walk alone, I am posting a picture of milk and butter. This morning at 7am when I returned home from 12 hours at the office, Uncle welcomed me with a big smile: "You must go get milk now ..." ... Alrighty then! I couldn't be happier actually, because it was my first official walk alone. I walked to Mother Dairy, the milk stand, and got milk, butter and jam. For those who may be wondering ... we already had yogurt in the fridge!

So I think I am going to actually write a bit. These are flowers I got from a boy down the street during my walk with Baljit Uncle the other day. I remembered their smell from Tahiti and couldn't not get them. Uncle said the are known as queen of the night here. I don't think that's true actually but I like the name anyway because they smell really good in my room at night. I am in India ... there is a lot more to say!

An awesome chil trip to Dungeness Spit with Bhuvana, Greg, and Cecilia. Something about that coffee shop we read in on the way back.

Flyin to New Mexico with Colin. That was one funny funny flight experience. Among other things, we discovered a ridiculous offer in the in-flight magazine: a portable hot tub which can be mounted on top of an SUV. Whoa!

I had always wanted to see these haystacks and I had no idea they were in Oregon.

Gotta love The Astoria Tower: I met Brad Pitt on Astoria Square in Budapest, a security guard at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan found my passport on Park Avenue, I spent the night of the New York blackout on a rooftop in Queens Astoria, and then I went running up and down this tower in Astoria, Oregon. Life's too awesome.

Snooze'n'Cruise with the WYC, July 28-29, 2007

This was a wonderful weekend sailing trip to Blake Island organized by the Washington Yacht Club!

100 people on 11 keelboats, 2 catamarans, and 2 dinghies. Coolers full of ice-cream, steaks, and salmon. Definitely not a regular camping trip... not to forget that Cecilia, Chino and I made over 20 sanwiches for the 1st day of sailing just for the 3 of us ... ya know, just in case the winds did not blow.

7 am: First boat ready to go! Our crew: Andy the capt'n, Anne, Cecilia, Gerardo Chino Israel Fernandez Ramirez Miguel de Rivera, Sally, Stewart, Edward, Patrick, Natalia, and Matt.

Passing by our Oceanography building where we will all defend our Masters one day. Pretty sweet deal to study by the water, we know, we know.

My boat will be called the "Flying Gypsy". The movie Gypsy Caravan: when the road bends is, by the way, excellent.

It's Seattle. Polite driving is encouraged, even when you are on a boat. But is that a wake I see behind the motorboat!?

Waiting to transit through the Ballard Locks, from the fresh lake to the salty Puget Sound. Meanwhile, Cecilia is doing dishes in the galley. Then, the doors open and off we go...

"It is always sunny in Ballard...".

Sailing on the Sound: awesome heel, Cecilia, check out that angle! Is everyone still on board, or have we lost someone? Later that afternoon someone else was steering with a big angle and Cecilia almost rolled into the water from under the mainsail where she was peacefully taking a nap. She says she felt a hand grab her and save her from splashing in!

And then we arrived at Blake Island.

Nothing to do but have fun! So we played a quick game of ultimate frisbee: Cecilia, Natalia, and Bhuvana face Bei, Colin, and Chino. Sally cheers for us and we win. There is no need to confirm this information, just trust me, okay.

Dinner time! Salmon, veggie burgers, or steak on the grill. For dessert, ice cream with all of these toppings! We transported the ice cream in dry ice: good idea but it was as hard as a rock after dinner and we had to put it on the grill(!) to unfreeze.

The moon was full and we all slept well. So well in fact that some of us missed the sausages for breakfast.

A salmon dinner and show at the Native American Cultural Center costs $80 to curious tourists arriving from Seattle on yucky Argosy Cruise diesel boats. We were so lucky to have sailed there and enjoyed it all way more for way less!

Viva Mexico! One of 3 giant Mexican flags in the country. And another one, not so fancy...

The Port of Ensenada from aboard the Royal Pacifico boat, which took us on a sunset cruise with lots of wine and banda music. The group picture is from Anne-Christine, the dance one is from Julien.

Local beer and singing at La Taberna. It was fantastic to hang out and party with you again, Paulina!

Peanuts, more dancing, and roses at Hussong's Cantina - the first building and bar in Ensenada. Rumor has it the town was build around it. I do not know why the policeman is hugging the band player.

Wine tasting in the Valley of Guadalupe.

The afternoon sun, an orange tree, and a haystack at an oceanographer's ranch and winery in the valley.

Carne asada - juicy lamb, tortillas, and green onions. Homemade wine way past sunset.

The next "morning" at noon, a bit sleepy...

... we loaded The Calhypso with a dozen surf boards, a shiny jet ski, and loads of cheese and drinks.

Destination: the waves beyond Todos Santos bay.

The hunters paddling out to the rocks to gather mussels for a warm meal on the beach...

... about 10 minutes later 3 of us capsized in the zodiac. Everything including Gustavo's Brazilian passport and MP3 player, our clothes, cameras, ..., was under water. The only thing left completely dry was Sally's miraculous camera, which took these pictures.

After a beautiful boat ride under the stars, back in Ensenada - lots of surfboards and even more happy people. Time for Paola's Spanish tortillas at Miguel's house on the beach. Looking forward to IMSPO 2!
